Chandra Mouli Nagamallaiah beheaded by a co-worker

Nagamallaiah, who managed the Downtown Suites Motel in Dallas, was recently stabbed and beheaded by a co-worker named Yordanis Cobos-Martinez on Wednesday morning. According to reports, the altercation erupted between the two after Chandra reportedly told Yordanis not to use a broken washing machine. When Nagamallaiah asked another employee to translate his instructions to Cobos-Martinez instead of speaking directly, the suspect became enraged and resorted to violent means. The surveillance footage from the motel shows Cobos-Martinez grabbing a machete and attacking Nagamallaiah. As Chandra tried to flee toward the motel office, the suspect chased him down and carried out the fatal assault in full view of his wife and 18-year-old son.

Main suspect Yordanis Cobos-Martinez arrested and jailed

Police have arrested 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez just moments after the gruesome attack. Authorities managed to catch him while he was still bloodied and carrying the machete, which he used for killing. According to witnesses, Yordanis carried Nagamallaiah’s severed head to a dumpster before officers intervened. Notably, Cobos-Martinez has prior arrests for assault and auto theft in Houston and now faces a capital murder charge. He is currently in Dallas County Jail without bond, and records also show an immigration hold against him. Cuban immigrant Cobos-Martinez was a 37-year-old transient citizen of Dallas born on 20 March, 1988 who moved between states and drew police attention for erratic and criminal behavior. He had a violent record of being involved with bizarre incidents that made headlines well before this latest case. Following his arrest in Dallas, which turned into the most disturbing chapter, he is now accused of a murder so brutal that it has rattled the entire community.

He is an illegal immigrant and was released by ICE on 13 January, 2025. According to Harris County court records, Cobos-Martinez was previously charged with indecency with a child and assault causing bodily injury in 2018 and was also arrested in California in 2017 after he allegedly attempted to carjack a woman while n*ked.
