A Delhi-based jewellry brand, ‘The Olio Stories,’ has recently became the subject of criticism after they shared a distorted image of India map in its campaign “Azadi”

Earlier, a Delhi-based brand The Olio Stories took to their social media account on X/Twitter and shared a post featuring the map of India.

The jewelry brand is receiving criticism for featuring the distorted map of India in its “Azadi,” campaign and wishing Pakistan on its Independence Day. Several people took to X/Twitter, and called out the brand for using the wrong map of the nation for their new collection video, which they named Azadi.” The brand is run by Aashna Singh and Sneha Saksena. Singh and Saksena, launched The Olio Stories in November 2015.

Who are Aashna Singh and Sneha Saksena?
As per the official website of the Olio Stories, the founder Aashna Singh serves as the communicator. Singh works as the “brand manager, social media guru, meme creator, and a hype girl.” The woman who hails from Delhi, earned a degree in BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, as per her LinkedIn profile.
Singh who is from Sector 15 in Faridabad, began her career as a Client Support Executive in August 2009, with Ernst & Young, wherein she worked for approximately 1 year and 9 months, that is April 2011. Later, she joined the Communication Council as a Brand Consultant for at least 1 year and 6 months.

Later, she joined bhane, as a Public Relations, a role which she served for 2 years 5 months, and then promoted as Brand Manager, in May 2015 and she stayed as such until October 2015. In the same month in 2015, she co-founded the brand Olio with her friend Sneha, whom she met at bhane.
Meanwhile, Sneha Saksena who is from Lado Sarai Delhi and is the daughter of Sundeep Saksena, serves as the designer, completed her degree from NIFT, and has experience in creating accessories, jewelry and clothes. The founder leads the design process, and original content at Olio.
The Instagram account of The Olio Stories, which goes by the name @the.olio.stories, has so far garnered 171K followers. After the brand received so much hate and criticism online, they switched their Instagram account to a private one, as well as extended an apology using X/Twitter for sharing the wrong map of India. Both the founders of the Delhi based company are said to be from Haryana.
