A Noida man named Vipin Bhati recently attacked his wife named Nikki on August 22, 2025, inside their marital home in Greater Noida. A shocking eyewitness video shows the young woman, severely burnt, attempting to stagger down a staircase before collapsing. Despite being rushed to a hospital, she eventually succumbed to her injuries and Nikki’s sister Kanchan was also tragically beaten up that same day. Kanchan has since accused Vipin and his family of murdering Nikki for dowry.
Charges and allegations
Police registered an FIR on August 22 at Kasna Police Station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:
- Section 103(1): Murder
- Section 115(2): Voluntarily causing hurt
- Section 61(2): Attempting offences punishable with life imprisonment
Police later arrested Vipin Bhati and even shot him in the leg when he tried to escape police custody. Authorities also arrested his mother, Daya Bhati (55), after she had been on the run.
Reason behind the attack
Nikki and her elder sister Kanchan reportedly endured relentless dowry harassment for nearly nine years after marrying into the Bhati family back in 2016. According to Nikki’s father, Bhikahri Singh, the family kept fulfilling demands, from buying a Scorpio car and gold at the wedding to a Bullet bike and cash later.

However, the Bhatis allegedly raised their demands and instead asked for ₹36 lakh in cash or a Mercedes car. Even after meeting the demands, the abuse worsened over time and on the day of the murder, Nikki was beaten, hit on the head, and doused with an acid-like substance before the family set her ablaze. Kanchan alleged that the family wanted Nikki “out of the way” so that Vipin could remarry.
Vipin Bhati biography
Vipin Bhati is a resident of Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, who was married to age 28 Nikki Singh in 2016 and a father to a young six year old boy. His mother Daya aged 55 and brother Rohit who was married to Nikki’s elder sister, Kanchan have both been arrested along with Vipin. Tragically, both the sisters endured harassment within the same household.
Vipin Bhati of Sirsa, the husband of 28-year-old Nikki Bhati, who died after she was assaulted and set on fire at her in-laws’ home in Greater Noida is the main accused in the dowry killing.
Vipin and Rohit Bhati, two unemployed brothers who lived off their father’s grocery shop, got a high-end SUV, a Royal Enfield bike, nearly 500 gm gold and cash in the same ceremony on December 10, 2016.
According to reports, Vipin was unemployed for most of the time and relied financially on Nikki’s family. Nikki’s father had reportedly even set up a beauty parlor for his daughter to support the household. However, he then went on to accuse Vipin of stealing money from it.

Nikki’s family members have described Vipin as a violent and entitled man who habitually demanded money. Relatives have revealed how he had been eyeing a Mercedes parked outside Nikki’s parental home and repeatedly stated:
“Either give me the Mercedes or ₹60 lakh.”
Vipin now faces murder charges and public outrage.
