Meanwhile, the FBI released a series of photos and videos showing Robinson fleeing the campus after the shooting.

Police in Utah have named Tyler Robinson as the alleged gunman who fatally shot Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk during a campus event at Utah Valley University on September 10. Trump told ‘Fox & Friends’ that Robinson’s father tipped off law enforcement, describing the situation as a crucial break in the case. Trump stated:

“With a high degree of certainty, we have him,” while calling Kirk “the finest person” and demanding the death penalty for Robinson.

The FBI, meanwhile, has confirmed Robinson as the main suspect while releasing surveillance footage featuring Robinson. The footage showed him fleeing the Utah Valley University campus immediately after the gunfire took place. Investigators believe Robinson carried out the attack alone while not ruling out possible outside influence. Authorities had earlier detained two individuals right after the shooting but later released them.

Robinson’s father first contacted a youth pastor, who also serves as a U.S. Marshals task force officer after learning his son was behind the shooting who advised him to turn him in to the authorities.

The FBI had since urged anyone with credible information to come forward and announced a $100,000 reward. Notably, Utah Governor Spencer Cox vowed that the state will seek the death penalty if Robinson is convicted. As of now, officials have not yet disclosed how Robinson obtained the firearm used in the assassination or what the reason behind the motive was.

Robinson was turned in overnight Thursday after allegedly confessing to his father and the family’s priest that he killed Kirk and his father escorted him back to Orem to turn him in.

Ammunition found had been inscribed with of the messages on the casing reading: “What’s this;” “Oh, Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao, Ciao;” “If you read this, you are gay, LMAO;” and “Hey fascist, catch!.”

The grey Dodge Challenger in which Tyler was seen arriving at Utah Valley University and leaving after the murder, belonged to him and he was seen was wearing a plain maroon T-shirt, light-coloured shorts and a black hat with a white logo.

Tyler had made on Discord, a chat platform, discussing retrieving a rifle from a drop point and then leaving the rifle in a bush wrapped in a towel, the same weapon which was recovered and belongs to him used to shoot Charlie Kirk dead. While no motive or manifesto has been recovered yet, Tyler had no criminal record.

Tyler Robinson, a biological male who is a Christian by religion is a 22-year-old Utah resident who has emerged as the main suspect in the recent Charlie Kirk shooting. After authorities identified him as the main suspect, Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed Robinson’s age and local background. However, he declined to provide any further details on his personal history while the investigation unfolded.

Tyler lives in a six-bedroom home valued at around $600,000 in Washington, Utah.

His mother Amber previously attended the University of Utah and works for Intermountain Support Coordination Services.

His father Matt Robinson is a 27-year veteran of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and is a registered Republican voter. Tyler also has two brothers named Austin and Logan. Austin was starting his junior year of high school while Logan was starting his freshman year as per a 2021 Facebook post by their mother Amber.

Tyler attended Utah State University for one semester in 2021 and had also received a $32,000 scholarship from the college. Tyler maintained a 4.0 GPA and achieved near-perfect scores on the ACT.
