Tranell Williams identified and arrested as main suspect in Reggie Carroll’s murder
Southaven police apprehended a 38-year-old man named Tranell Marquise Williams following the fatal shooting of comedian Reggie Carroll on August 20. Williams currently remains in police custody as the investigation unfolds and authorities pursue formal charges. Police released a mugshot after the arrest, showing Williams with chest tattoos, a teardrop tattoo near his eye, and a well-groomed French beard.
Charges and allegations
Following his arrest, Tranell Williams now faces murder charges, and authorities allege that Williams reportedly shot Carroll during an incident on Burton Lane in northern Mississippi. Investigators are currently gathering more evidence to support the prosecution, while police monitor the case closely.
According to the DeSoto County Jail inmate roster, Tranell ‘Too Tal’ Marquise Williams was booked on August 21, 2025, by the Southaven Police Department, is charged with murder and is held without bond.

Tranell Marquise Williams is a 38-year-old man who is currently in police custody in connection with the murder of comedian Reginald “Reggie” Carroll. He has a distinct appearance with several tattoos on his chest, including a teardrop tattoo near one of his eyes. As of now, there is little to no information publicly available about Tranell and his personal background.
Tranell Williams is also alleged to have been associated with Katt Williams’ tour/security although this isn’t officially confirmed yet.
According to media sources, he was not related to comedian Katt Williams, despite working security on one of Katt Williams’ tours.
