For the unsure, earlier, a video went viral on social media, featuring a man trying to attempt a U-turn in an “official use only,” area in Turnpike Florida, and killing at least 3 people. Media reports revealed that the tragic incident took place on August 12, near 171-mile marker, Turnpike.
Who is the Indian origin semi-truck driver as video of his accident crash with minivan due to illegal U-turn in Florida’s Turnpike in Fort Pierce goes viral
On August 12, 2025, at around 3 p.m., a semi-truck attempted an illegal U-turn on Florida’s Turnpike near mile marker 171 in Fort Pierce as the truck, traveling north in the outside lane, crossed all northbound lanes at an “Official Use Only” turnaround, jackknifing in the process.
A Chrysler Town & Country minivan, traveling north in the inside lane, collided with the trailer and became wedged underneath and the crash occurred 18 miles north of the Fort Pierce exit, causing all northbound lanes to close for several hours.

What Exactly Happened?
As aforesaid, the semi-truck-trailer was driven by a man from India. Though, at the time of writing this article, the identity of the victims and the driver, have not been disclosed by the authorities.
However, claims went viral across social media suggesting that the two occupants of the semi-truck-trailer, including the driver, who are 25 and 28-years-old, didn’t sustain any injuries in the crash. While the name of the driver hasn’t been revealed yet, he is an Indian origin Sikh and could be from Punjab. The two occupants of the truck are said to be from California.
An 18-second video is now swirling around the internet, featuring the driver driving northbound in the right lane before deciding to abruptly make the illegal U-turn. Reports suggest that the deceased were revealed as a 30-year-old Florida city man, alongside a 37-year-old woman and a 54 year-old from Miami.
The minivan’s driver, a 30-year-old man from Florida City, was airlifted to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, where he died while the two passengers, a 37-year-old woman from Pompano Beach and a 54-year-old man from Miami, were pronounced dead at the scene.

After a video of the incident went viral, people were stunned and shocked. Meanwhile, reports indicate that the 30 year old driver of the minivan was unable to avoid the turning truck and collided into the semi-truck’s trailer.
The driver, with roots from India, seemed to have attempted a U-turn into an official use only area. The minivan, which was inside the truck’s lane was unable to avoid it, and end up colliding with the semi-truck-trailer as the semi-truck tried to make a U-turn at an Official Use Only turn and crossed in front of the minivan in the left lane.
As per media reports, both passengers in the minivan, passed away on the spot, while the 30 year old driver of the minivan was taken to a nearby hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
The tragic and heartbreaking incident caused many traffic jams in the area, as the semi-truck was driving northbound in the right lane. As counts given by the investigators, they are still investigating the matter.
The Florida Highway Patrol is now describing the wreck as a homicide investigation. Tire marks at the scene confirmed the truck’s unauthorized maneuver, which violated the regulations, restricting U-turns to emergency vehicles.
