Social media platforms, especially X/Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit, have been buzzing with a viral post, wherein Justice Vikram Nath can be seen remarking that he has been working in the legal field for so long, and yet he got attention and fame through his judgement on the “stray dogs” case.
What Did Justice Vikram Nath Say?
In his statement, the Justice of the Supreme Court can be heard saying, “It’s been a while since I’ve been working in this fraternity, but “I’m thankful to the stray dogs who made me known not just in the civil society, the nation, but all over world.”

Additionally, he extended thanks towards the current Chief Justice of India for allotting such a case to him. He also revealed that he had been receiving messages from netizens, and dog lovers and said even “dogs are giving me blessings and good wishes.”
These comments came in the light of India’s escalating human and dog conflict and decisions have drawn criticism for prioritizing the personal recognition of humans and showing insensitivity towards dogs with a string of cases being reported of violence by deranged Indians towards dogs.

As per the official website of Supreme Court, Justice Vikram Nath born in a middle-class family and hails from the Kaushambi district in Uttar Pradesh, on September 24, 1962. The 63-year-old Judge followed the footsteps of his family and went to study law.
Justice Vikram Nath hails from a family of lawyers with him being the 4th generation in his family to pursue law and he graduated in Science.
Nath did his graduation first in 1983, and then went to the University of Lucknow where he enrolled himself in a law course, which he completed in 1986. Later, he practiced as a lawyer at the Allahabad High Court for approximately 17 years, before being appointed as a High Court Judge in Allahabad in 2004.
On September 2019, he was promoted as Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court, and in 2021, he was promoted as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India in August. The current Justice of the SC is in line to become the CJI of India in 2027. Nath made headlines earlier after becoming the first CJI, who did a hearing live on YouTube.
Nath is due to retire on 23-09-2027.
