Delhi Police recently arrested a man named Rajesh Khimji Sakariya on Wednesday morning after he allegedly assaulted Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during her Jan Sunwai session. The accused’s mother said that Rajesh is a devotee of Mahadev and he had left home saying that he was going to Ujjain and he goes there at least once a month. She said that she didn’t know when Rajesh went to Delhi from Ujjain and yesterday his father called Rajesh and asked when he was coming back. He told his father that he was in Delhi in connection with dogs after which he hung up the phone.

Official statements
Following the incident, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has released a statement saying:
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked today during a public grievance hearing. The Delhi Police promptly took the accused into custody and are interrogating him.”
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar addressed the media, stating the attacker handed over a paper before launching the assault. Praveen hinted at possible political links, but there has been no official confirmation as of now. While the Delhi Police have confirmed Sakariya’s arrest and interrogation, they have not yet provided any detailed information about charges.
