A Greater Noida woman named Nikki Bhati recently witnessed a horrifying case of dowry violence as her husband and in-laws tortured her and set her ablaze. Her elder sister, Kanchan, recorded the assault on video. Nikki reportedly died of severe burn injuries and left behind a six-year-old son who witnessed the entire crime. Nikki’s family are reportedly broken and enraged with the entire ordeal and are now demanding the strictest action against the Bhati family.

Reason behind the incident
According to Nikki’s family, the Bhatis had been demanding money and luxury cars ever since her marriage back in 2016. The harassment escalated after they started requesting vehicles like a Scorpio and a Bullet motorcycle and demanding₹36 lakh in cash or a Mercedes car. The Singh family reportedly gave expensive gifts such as gold, cars, and motorcycles during both sisters’ marriages, but the in-laws allegedly kept torturing both Nikki and Kanchan.
The abuse seemingly turned deadly on August 22, 2025 as videos showed Nikki being beaten and doused with a substance before being set on fire in front of her young son. Her six-year-old child narrated the whole incident in heartbreaking detail, saying:
They poured something on my mother, slapped her, and set her ablaze with a lighter.”

According to police reports, they first received information from Fortis Hospital, where Nikki was admitted with burns before. She was eventually shifted to Safdarjung Hospital, where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. Nikki’s husband, Vipin Bhati, was eventually arrested two days later while being taken to recover evidence. Vipin allegedly tried to escape and was shot in the leg before being caught again. Police stated that Vipin’s mother, Daya Bhati (55), was also named in the FIR, and she was reportedly arrested after absconding with his brother Rohit also arrested now.
Nikki’s family lodged the FIR at Kasna Police Station on August 22, and it included serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including murder, voluntarily causing hurt, and attempting offenses punishable with life imprisonment. Nikki’s father has gone out and demanded capital punishment and also called for the Bhati family home to be demolished.

Nikki biography
Age 28 Nikki Bhati was a resident of Noida who came from a humble Singh family and was the daughter of Bhikahri Singh. She married Vipin Bhati of Sirsa back in 2016, while her elder sister, Kanchan, married Vipin’s brother, Rohit Bhati, the same year. Tragically, both the sisters endured harassment within the same household. Despite the severe abuse, Nikki still tried to support her family and even opened a beauty parlor to earn a living. However, her father stated that Vipin often stole money from the parlor as well. Nikki had a six-year-old son from her marriage who is now left traumatized after witnessing the attack.

Nikki used to run a salon opened by her parents while her husband Vipin was unemployed. However, Nikki was forced to shut down her business by her husband. Vipin also wanted Nikki to stop posting Instagram reels which she used to do to promote her business. Vipin is also said to have cheated on Nikki and had an affair.
Vipin and Rohit Bhati, two unemployed brothers who lived off their father’s grocery shop, got a high-end SUV, a Royal Enfield bike, nearly 500 gm gold and cash in the same ceremony on December 10, 2016.
Nikki’s father Bhikari Singh Payla owned a Mercedes and Vipin had been asking for the luxury car and said either give the Mercedes or Rs 60 lakh.
