Who is Kevin ‘Tugg’ Watson, shot to death on Facebook livestream video in South Austin

The incident happened near Madison & LeClaire in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood on Aug. 13.

The tragic incident took place on Wednesday in South Austin at the 5000 block of West Madison Street at around 6:14 p.m.
Chicago’s Kevin “Tugg” Watson, 42, was shot and killed for his chain while streaming on Facebook Live in South Austin. A father to a 6-year-old, he was weeks away from his birthday.
The 42-year-old man was visiting his cousin’s jobsite in the neighbourhood on August 13 and was seen wearing dark shades and a large chain with the name during the live stream. The initial moments of the video indicated that he started filming it after he got into the car, as he began ranting about a parking issue.
“He was choking for breath,” his cousin, Jacquez Smith said. Having watched his suffering in the parking lot, she added, “I wouldn’t have let him walk out the store. He was a good man. No matter what he done, he helped people, you know? He helped me get this job in here.”
What Did the Viral Video Show?
The livestream video of Kevin Watson, features him sitting inside his car, on the driver’s seat and conversing with the audience live on Facebook. Soon enough, another vehicle came, and the shooter approaches him through the window. Seeing the man, Kevin Watson, waves his hand and step outside of his vehicle. Seconds later, gunshot can be heard. The livestream video has gone viral gaining more than 2.5 million views.
What Did the Authorities Say?
As per counts given by the authorities, Watson was shot in his chest and died from the gunshot wounds. At the time of writing this article, the Chicago police department is yet to make an arrest in the case, and an investigation is still underway.

What Did Kevin Watson Say in His Viral Video?
Although as of now the exact details of the incident are not clear, however, the man in the video can be heard talking about a parking dispute. In his livestream, Kevin Watson, can be heard talking about an incident, which may have had happened at the time.
In his words, he can be heard saying, “I said, I said, listen bro. If they do come, let us park right here. You feel me? If they do come? Come get me.”
Soon enough, the shooter approaches and fires the gun. Following the incident, multiple people come, as they start conversing about the situation, meanwhile there was one man who told them not to touch anything as now it is a crime scene. The man then turns around the cell phone and the camera shows the ceiling of the car and then the video ends.
As of now, the authorities haven’t provided any information on the circumstances of the shooting but many reports link it to a robbery gone awry with the shooter wanting to steal Kevin’s chain.
