Sadly, the male victim who was found with a gunshot wound eventually was declared dead on the scene, despite immediate medical efforts by bystanders and first responders.
As investigations carry on, officials are preparing to release more details after notifying the victim’s family.
North Windham shooting: main suspect James Ford found dead
Authorities have identified James O Ford as the primary suspect in the recent North Windham shooting. Shortly after the shooting, authorities found him dead in his vehicle at a Dunkin’ store parking lot in Raymond. As police officials quickly arrived at the scene in response to multiple eyewitness reports, they coordinated a widespread search involving the Windham Police, Maine State Police, and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
Cause of death
Officials have revealed that a self inflicted bullet wound was the cause James Ford’s death who was found dead after a long manhunt. According to official reports, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is scheduled to perform an autopsy to determine the exact circumstances surrounding his demise.
Police located Ford’s silver vehicle in a Dunkin parking lot in Raymond as many stores in North Windham went into lockdown. Maine State Police Major Lucas Hare stated that Ford was located after the vehicle was found.
The victim was shot and killed Friday afternoon on Route 302 in North Windham and despite being provided aid by bystanders, he didn’t survive. His identity is yet to be revealed.
Windham police Chief Kevin Schofield said at about 1:55 p.m., his department received 911 calls reporting the shooting.
