Amongst the rumors, one of them focused on a private jet near the shooting site that left less than an hour after the shooting.
Komigo CEO Derek Maxfield speaks out
Derek Maxfield, who is the CEO of Komigo, recently spoke out to push back strongly against rumors linking his company’s private jet to the recent Charlie Kirk shooting. Derek posted a lengthy social media post, stating that the speculation “unfairly impacted” his family and stemmed from “inaccurate” and “false” claims. Maxfield explained:
“Yesterday, at approximately 1:20 p.m. MT a private aircraft owned by one of our companies departed Provo Airport for Page, AZ, pursuant to a prescheduled flight plan. Any suggestion the flights are connected is without credible basis of any kind.”
He added that plane departed Provo with two pilots and zero passengers and upon arrival in Page, Maxfield and seven additional passengers boarded the jet for the return trip to Utah.
“Radar services with air traffic control were terminated in mutual agreement between Denver FAA center and N888KG approximately 10 miles from landing at PGA, which is consistent with generally accepted standard practice when flying in and out of non-towered airports like PGA,” he wrote.

Charlie Kirk shooting: Private Jet Conspiracy Theory
After Charlie Kirk’s murder, investigators confirmed that they were still searching for a suspect who has now been identified as Tyler Robinson and since arrested. However, social media users soon started claiming that an aircraft from the nearby Provo Airport might have helped the suspect escape. Moreover, the flight data showed a Bombardier Challenger 300 departing at around 1:11 p.m., turning off its ADS-B tracker before landing in Page, Arizona. The plane then returned to Utah later that afternoon. Due to the aircraft registration linked to Maxfield’s business, many netizens speculated that it had aided the shooter’s escape.
The private jet under the tail number N888KG which had left Provo Airport an hour after the shooting has a registered owner in the Utah city of Lehi who has since been identified as Derek Maxfield with him denying the conspiracy theories.
The jet is registered to “N888KG” LLC, which shares an address with the Derek and Shelaine Maxfield Family Foundation, which runs the Saprea non-profit organization to help survivors of s*xual abuse.
In 2022, Saprea launched its first-ever kosher retreat that offers kosher food developed “closely with Rabbi Avremi Zippel at Chabad Lubavitch of Utah” and the retreat is “free of charge to any woman who was s*xually abused at or before age 18.” Chabad Lubavitch is an Orthodox Jewish movement that faced controversy after inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s former Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, and former Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, to their headquarters.
