Choi identified as main suspect in the murder of Korean TikTok influencer Yoon Ji-ah
Authorities have identified Choi as the main suspect in the murder of Yoon Ji-ah, a 24-year-old TikTok influencer and aspiring actress. Investigators reportedly found Yoon’s body on September 13 on a mountain in Muju County, North Jeolla Province. Her body showed signs of strangulation and multiple bruises, and investigators have revealed that Choi posed as a wealthy IT CEO and initially approached Yoon with promises to grow her social media following.
Yoon had seemingly believed him and signed an exclusive contract with him. However, she later learned of his heavy debts and fraudulent claims and tried to cut ties with him. Choi eventually attacked her on September 11, and shortly after her final livestream in Incheon, killed her. He then proceeded to abandon her body in Muju County, and police have since arrested him two days later.
Motive behind the attack
According to reports, Yoon Ji-ah planned to end her professional relationship with Choi after discovering his financial instability and manipulative behavior. She announced her decision on September 10, which caused Choi to panic and act in fear. Security footage showed him begging on his knees as he pleaded for her to reconsider, and authorities believe that his motive appears rooted in fear of exposure and desperation. According to investigators, Choi saw Yoon as a business partner and a personal investment tied to his status as a “VIP donor” on TikTok. As a result, her decision to leave him humiliated him and likely triggered the violent attack.
Charges and allegations
Following the recent murder case, police have charged Choi with various charges, including murder, disposal of a body, and obstruction of justice. During the same time as the crime, Choi was already on trial for assaulting and confining another female TikTok user back in late 2024.
Choi biography and age
Choi is a Korean national who is likely in his mid-50s and has lived a double life, pretending to be a rich CEO while secretly drowning in debt. Following recent investigations, authorities have seized his home and forced an auction, and exposed his reputation as a “big spender” online. Despite his age, Choi often used social media influence and fake wealth to manipulate younger creators for his own personal gain.
