The crash killed a total of three people, with one victim hospitalized and in a serious condition as emergency crews responded quickly.

Polish couple amongst dead victims in Isle of Wight helicopter crash
Polish nationals Justyna Czoska and her partner, Wojtek Kowalkowski from Bloxham near Banbury, tragically died in a helicopter crash while participating in a flying lesson on the Isle of Wight. The helicopter was a Robinson R44 II helicopter that spiraled out of control and crashed into a field near the A3020, between Whiteley Bank and Shanklin. The crash took place at approximately 9:20 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025 and it was operated by Northumbria Helicopters. According to reports, the helicopter had departed Sandown Airport around 9 a.m. and was engaged in an instructional flight with four people onboard, including the pilot.
Eyewitness reports stated how they saw the helicopter spiraling down before crashing into a hedge. Following the crash, emergency services, including police, firefighters, paramedics, and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, responded swiftly to the scene. However, three of the individuals, including Justyna and Wojtek, died on impact, while the fourth occupant was critically injured. Northumbria Helicopters has since confirmed full cooperation as the investigation continues with the UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) leading the investigations. Justyna and Wojtek’s families have since launched a GoFundMe page to support repatriation and funeral expenses and to help Justyna’s daughter lay the couple to rest in Poland.

Justyna Czoska was a Polish national who was 52-years-old at the time of her death. Czoska shared a deep bond with her partner, Wojtek Kowalkowski, and the pair were travelling together during the ill-fated flying lesson.
