Jhansla’s victory came following ABVP’s victory in the other three key posts—President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary.
NSUI leader Rahul Jhansla wins DUSU Vice President elections
Rahul Jhansla of the NSUI won the Vice President seat of the DUSU with a total of 29,339 votes. Rahul won the seat after beating ABVP’s Govind Tanwar, who managed to secure 20,547 votes. Jhansla secured his win with a landslide margin of 8,792 votes, highlighting his popularity and the effectiveness of his campaigns targeted across hostels, day scholar communities, and women’s colleges.
His win gives NSUI its only seat on the four-member DUSU central panel. Students reportedly credited his grassroots approach, consistent activism, and approachable nature behind the decisive result. Following his victory, hundreds of NSUI supporters rallied at North Campus, waving flags and chanting slogans.

He is still in his early 20s, but he has already carved out a reputation as a determined activist. Rahul’s colleagues and fellow students have described him as an approachable, persuasive, and deeply committed leader.
Education
Rahul Jhansla graduated from Delhi University’s Shaheed Bhagat Singh College and later pursued his Bachelor of Laws from DU.
He completed his graduation from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College in Buddhist Studies and after completing his graduation, Jhansla enrolled in a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) programme at Delhi University, where he is in his second year.
Political journey
Rahul Jhansla started his political activism journey by organizing various college-level campaigns. He quickly became a recognizable face in NSUI’s Delhi University network, and over the years, he has led multiple hunger strikes and protests, focusing on hostel hygiene, poor sports infrastructure, and inadequate student facilities.
