Who is Jen Pawol?
Jen Pawol, is an American baseball umpire, and the seventh woman to work as a professional baseball umpire. Being born in West Milford, New Jersey, on December 29, 1976, to Jim Pawol, and Victoria Pawol (deceased), Jen Pawol attended West Milford High School and used to play soccer and softball.
Later, she went to Hofstra University on an athletic scholarship and during that time she began umpiring softball games. At the time, she was paid $15 per game. Later, in 2001, she participated in the Women’s Baseball World Series as a member of US women’s national baseball team.
Career
In her MLB debut behind the plate, umpire Jen Pawol missed the first call of the game, but settled in to call a relatively unremarkable game.

Before transitioning her career into professional umpiring, she was an art teacher. Following umpiring part-time in softball games for 11-years, she switched as a full-time umpire & in order to do that, she attended Minor League Baseball Umpire Training Academy, in Florida.
Her performance at the academy led her to spot a seat in the Major League Baseball Advanced Course, which she completed in 2017. In the same year, she started her professional career in baseball in the Gulf Coast League.
On August 9, 2025, she made her debut as an umpire, donning the No. 95. The professional umpire appeared as the first-base umpire in the double-header game between the Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins in Atlanta.
On Sunday, August 10, Jen Pawol continued her role of home plate umpire at Truist Park, in Atlanta.
