Who is Patrick Joseph White?
The active-shooter incident, which took place at a CVS near Emory University, happened on Friday afternoon, sparking a massive police response.
A police officer named David Rose was tragically killed in the recent shooting that took place near Emory University. The shooting took place around 4:50 p.m., as officers rushed to the CVS at Emory Point following a 911 call. Upon the arrival of the first responders, they found officer Rose critically wounded and they immediately took him to Emory University Hospital, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
The shooting took place inside the store, where police located the gunman on the second floor, suffering from gunshot wounds. Atlanta Fire Rescue managed to pull him out for medical aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. According to investigators, the suspect fired multiple rounds and shattered windows at the CDC building before eventually dying himself.
As per authorities, the suspect behind the shooting incident that occurred on Friday near the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention HQ in Atlanta is identified as Patrick Joseph White. The 30-year-old man reportedly hails from Kennesaw, Georgia.
Patrick Joseph White alongside a police officer of DeKalb County identified as David Rose were killed during the shooting incident. As per a statement released by the GBI short for Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Rose was killed before the police found White dead on the 2nd floor of a building across the street.

As of now, the exact motive behind the shooting remains unknown, as investigators have yet to release the suspect’s identity or the exact circumstances that led to the attack. Officials are currently reviewing security footage, interviewing witnesses, and asking the public for any kind of information related to the gunman.
The suspect who is dead is believed to have been motivated by a belief that he fell ill due to the COVID-19 vaccine and targeted the CDC due to it.

At the time of writing this piece, the authorities have yet to confirm whether Patrick Joseph White died from a police gunshot or a self-inflicted injury.
Neighbors of White said that while he was against vaccines, he was pleasant and never really talked about politics and White’s father is said to have called police prior to the shooting, worried that his son may have been suicidal.
For context, earlier, bullets were fired outside the CDC HQ, with bullets piercing windows across at least four buildings, as per counts given by the director of CDC, Susan Monarez. The employees of the CDC, later took to social media platforms as they shared the videos and images of the scene, featuring extensive damage to the buildings, where thousands work on vital disease research.

As per multiple reports, Patrick Joseph White was armed with a long gun. Though, the authorities have discovered additional three more firearms at the scene. At the time of writing this piece, White’s motive behind these actions remains unknown.
