Who is Quornelius Radford?
As of now, there isn’t much information available about the suspect, however, as per an earlier media briefing led by Brig. Gen. John Lubas, who is reportedly the commanding general of the third division, Radford served as a logistics sergeant assigned to the 2ABCT (short for Armored Brigade Combat Team).
As per the counts given by Lubas, Radford has been stationed at Fort Stewart since 2002, and the man doesn’t have any prior combat experience or deployments and neither he had any disciplinary history within the Army.
Quornelius Radford, 28, a black-American US Army sergeant is assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team at Fort Stewart. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida and joined the army in 2018. His role involved handling supplies and warehouse operations and he had no behavioral issues in his record however he said that he had been arrested for driving under the influence in May.
Eddie Radford, 52, his father, said that he hadn’t seen anything unusual about his son’s behaviour recently but he said his son had been trying to get a transfer and had told his family about experiencing racism at Fort Stewart.

For context, the horrific shooting incident took place at 10:56 a.m., in the 2ABCT base, which is a major operational hub in Georgia, and reportedly the largest Army base of the Mississippi River.
As per counts given by the authorities, Radford opened fire using his personal shotgun as he fired on his fellow soldiers. As confirmed by Brig. Gen. Lubas, the weapon wasn’t provided by the military to Quornelius Radford.
In the aftermath of the incident, five soldiers were reportedly injured, but there weren’t any fatal injuries.

Apparently Quornelius Radford's motive for the Fort Stewart shooting, in his dad's words, was there was "racism" on the base. pic.twitter.com/t3tXPTYD7C
