Free Fire India
Garena launched Free Fire India in following the 2022 ban of the global Free Fire version across the country. The company promised a special India-specific edition packed with local events, alongside exclusive collaborations, and gameplay specifically tailored for Indian players. The game first opened for pre-registration on the Play Store, and went viral following a trailer featuring MS Dhoni and other Indian sports stars on August 31, 2023. Despite the initial launch date being scheduled for September 5, 2023, Garena stopped it due to technical and regulatory issues at the last minute. The game has since been stuck in limbo.

Free Fire India
The Indian government banned Free Fire and 54 other apps on February 14, 2022, over security and data privacy concerns. The ban left millions of players stranded overnight and Garena quickly announced a localized version called Free Fire India. The new game would seemingly comply with regulations and bring the game back officially. However, the launch never took place, stating server issues and possibly unresolved compliance problems. Two years later after its initial announcement, there is still no official update, and many players are still eagerly awaiting its launch.
Free Fire Max
Amidst the ban of Free Fire, Free Fire Max is the replacement game currently available in India. The game basically features the same game with improved textures, sound, and graphics, and players can log in with their old IDs and continue playing. Over the months, Garena adapted Max to run smoothly even on low-end devices and have launched major events like Diwali 2025 alongside major tournaments.
Free Fire India expected Launch Date 2025 and speculations
As of now, there are no official updates regarding a possible launch date for Free Fire India 2025. Garena is currently focusing entirely on Free Fire Max and speculations suggest that they might eventually switch the name from Max to “Free Fire India.”
