Gaurav Ghai is the third generation in the Ghai family business and the son of Ravi and Gita Ghai who have four children together named Gaurav, Gaurika, Ravina, and Gayatri

He is the current Chairman of Graviss Group, and he officially took the reins of the family enterprise back in 1999. He has since spent over two decades driving towards innovation and expansion, with the group being rebranded as Graviss in 2001. Notably, Graviss is a clever combination of various family member initials. Although his exact age is unknown, Gaurav is estimated to be in his late 40s to early 50s.

Ravi has an ongoing dispute with his son Gaurav who is Saaniya’s father after publicly accusing Gaurav of forging signatures and taking control of company shares during Ravi’s cancer treatment.

Ravi claimed that a supplementary Family Settlement Agreement was executed fraudulently using his forged signature. “My sign was misused for supplementary family settlement,” Ravi stated in his complaint, adding that he was the 100% owner of Graviss Group before restructuring the business back in 2001.

He alleged that by January 2025, his monthly allowance of Rs 12.5 lakh stopped, and by April, he learned from his CFO that Gaurav had declared himself the chairman of the company,

Education

Gaurav Ghai obtained his education from the Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, one of Mumbai’s leading commerce institutions.

Career

After completing his studies, Gaurav Ghai took charge of the company in 1999, and expanded the Graviss Group aggressively across India, the SAARC region, the Middle East, and eventually across the UK and EU. He drove growth of the Baskin Robbins franchise and established Rich’s India as the country’s biggest non-dairy icings and toppings company. He also went on to build international food businesses spanning across 11 countries.

Gaurav also notably introduced Mumbai’s first luxury boutique hotel and its famed Dome terrace bar. The move revolutionized banqueting and real estate concepts across India. He has also continued to lead new ventures, managing luxury condos and boosting hospitality standards nationwide.

Gaurav Ghai is married to Sumita Ghai, and the couple has 3 children named Saaniya Ghai, Shivaan Gaurav Ghai, and Sunera Ghai-Somani.

Although his exact net worth figures are private, the Graviss Group handles various ventures worth hundreds of crores.
