The music video of the song starts with her walking through the narrow alleys of her village, while spitting bars about self-reliance, strength, and identity. Throughout the song, Param delivers pure, street-style rap unlike the typical pop or folk music associated with Punjabi women singers. The lyrics to “That Girl” feature a challenge to traditional gender roles and references Jeona Morh, who is a folk hero who stood for the oppressed.

Paramjeet Kaur started out her music journey when she was just in Class 10 at her government high school. She eventually got hooked on rap and took music as a subject at DM College in Moga. Param eventually teamed up with her friend Jashanpreet Singh, aka Saab, and started performing freestyle rap at Dana Mandi, which is Moga’s local grain market. Eventually, their jam sessions, recorded as Instagram reels on the page “Malwa Hood,” started gaining widespread attention from netizens online as Param became known for her melodic hip-hop style
Renowned British record producer Manni Sandhu seemingly discovered Param’s talents during a casual jam session at an Airbnb in Punjab while visiting India. He was impressed by her vocals and took the raw recordings back to the UK, before adding some finishing touches and roping in Tru Makers to shoot the music video.
