Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez is currently facing serious legal trouble after he allegedly assaulted and a truck driver identified as “P.T.”
The violent late-night confrontation took place in Indianapolis, with a video showing the allegedly drunk Sanchez approaching and provoking the truck driver.

As the confrontation took place, it quickly spiraled out of control, ending with Sanchez stabbing him multiple times and the driver claiming self-defense.
Mark Sanchez accused of assaulting a truck driver
The fatal incident took place at around 12:30 a.m. near the Westin and Marriott hotels in downtown Indianapolis. Based on the surveillance footage, Sanchez reportedly ran up to a large box truck that was parked at the hotel’s loading dock. He confronted the victim, identified as P.T., before opening the truck door and initiating a conversation. As P.T. tried to walk away, Sanchez followed him repeatedly, with the situation turning physical when Sanchez chased him around the truck and slammed him against a wall.
P.T. reported that Sanchez smelled of alcohol, spoke unclearly, and tried to enter his truck several times. Sanchez allegedly blocked him from using his phone to call his manager, and P.T. had to resort to spraying Sanchez with pepper spray. While this slowed Sanchez briefly, he eventually wiped his face and advanced again, and P.T. pulled his knife and stabbed Sanchez multiple times during the struggle in self-defence.
“We are talking to lawyers first. We want to be careful what’s said. We appreciate that,” the family of the truck driver said and revealed that he was cut in the fight and it went through his cheek and hit his tongue.
Photos of PT showed him in a neck brace in his hospital bed with gnarly, deep wounds to his cheek and jaw.
Charges and allegations
Authorities have since charged Mark Sanchez with battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication. A judge has reportedly set his bond at $300 and issued a no-contact order with Sanchez claiming he had no memory of the incident.
“PT did not have his hearing aids in because his truck is very loud when he is exchanging the frying oil for the hotel, so he had to lean in close to Mr Sanchez to hear him,” the affidavit said.
“When PT leaned in, he stated that Mr Sanchez smelled of alcohol and his speech was slurred,” the affidavit read.
Sanchez then slammed the driver against the wall and threw him to the ground before the driver stabbed him in self defence.

Motive behind the attacks
According to P.T., Mark Sanchez claimed that he couldn’t park at the dock and acted as if he spoke to hotel management. According to investigators, Sanchez was intoxicated and agitated and initiated the confrontation without any valid reason. As such, prosecutors have described the motive as a petty parking dispute that spiraled due to Sanchez’s aggression and impaired state.
P.T. biography
Authorities have so far not revealed any details about the truck driver, who has only been identified as P.T. He is currently 69-years-old, and an employee of a company that specializes in commercial cooking oil recycling and disposal and not an Uber Eats or Door Dash driver as was originally claimed. P.T. reportedly didn’t have his hearing aids during the encounter, which forced him to move closer to communicate with Mark. The old man’s quick use of pepper spray and a knife likely prevented more serious harm to himself during the altercation. Authorities have held his full name and not released it publicly for privacy reasons.
