Morecambe FC have named Ashvir Singh Johal as their new manager following the club’s takeover by the Panjab Warriors consortium. His appointment comes just shortly after the dismissal of former manager Derek Adams. Johal will take charge as the club undergoes an important transition, with the club returning to the National League after their relegation from League Two. Despite the new appointment coming as Ashvir’s first senior managerial role, he has extensive coaching experience across youth and professional setups.

Ashvir Singh Johal who is a Punjabi Sikh is a professional football manager who was born in 1995, and he is currently 30 years old. He was born and raised in England and has experienced a career in professional football management marked by relentless ambition and groundbreaking achievements. Ashvir is a proud representative of the Sikh community, and he has now become a role model for aspiring coaches from diverse backgrounds.
Education
Ashvir Singh Johal started out his coaching education early and earned his FA Level 1 coaching qualification at just 16 while still in school. He then balanced coaching duties with his A-Level studies before eventually progressing to university. Just recently, Johal achieved a significant career milestone by completing his UEFA Pro License and graduating alongside notable football figures like former England star Jack Wilshere.
Career
Ashvir Singh Johal started out his coaching career at the grassroots level, volunteering and coaching youth teams at Leicester City from under-7s to under-18s. Later in 2022, he eventually stepped into senior football as an assistant coach for Wigan Athletic under Kolo Toure.
Johal then moved to Italy, where he served as assistant manager of Como’s U19 squad under Cesc Fabregas. Following Brexit-related work permit issues, he eventually returned to England, where he led Notts County’s B-team. Ashvir is now all set to feature in his first professional managerial role at Morecambe, where he will look to stabilize the club amid its National League challenges.
