Jonny Poulter reveals himself as Liverpool fan who got Diego Simeone sent off

Following the whole incident, a Liverpool fan named Jonny Poulter has seemingly come forward and revealed himself as the fan who taunted Diego Simeone as he lost his temper at Anfield. Poulter went on to post footage of the incident on X with the cheeky caption:

“Do I get the assist?”

The short clip showed Simeone raging while Poulter laughed right in front of him, triggering Simeone even more. His post created more banter online, as fans joked that Poulter deserved the man-of-the-match award for rattling the fiery Argentine coach.

Poulter released another video on Twitter/X, sharing his version of events of what had transpired as he said, “There’s something I want to get off my chest with regards to what happened last night with Simeone. I think he’s a bit of a coward. When he went and done his press conference after the game, the Spanish media has asked him what was said.

“If it was racist, if it was regarding the Falklands War and all this rubbish. There was nothing racist said by me or anyone else. There was never a mention of the Falklands War by me or anyone else.

“But the fact that he was asked it and he didn’t answer the question, and he just got up and walked out. He’s just left it open for speculation for the world.

“I’ve had messages on every platform. I don’t know how many, asking me what did you say. I said nothing apart from ‘f**k off, we’ve won’, basically, as you do.

“But that’s what he done to us when they scored the equaliser. His assistant manager was giving it way in front of us. Obviously he was getting called a s*******e and whatever else.”

Liverpool fan Jonathan aka Jonny Poulter was also given a three year stadium ban in 2015 for verbally abusing a disabled supporter during Steven Gerrard’s last match in Anfield. He had hurled abuse at a disabled woman and her husband after David Higham had asked Poulter to move a banner blocking his wife’s view after Gerrard had received a guard of honour.

Higham’s plea for the banner to be moved was refused by Poulter and he told the court that he felt “threatened and intimidated” after Higham entered his “personal space” and admitted telling him, “This is the Kop, this is our tradition, this is what we do, if you don’t like it there’s the door you can f*ck off” and to “f***ing p*** off”.

Poulter had received a three-year ban on top of a £520 criminal court charge, £500 prosecution costs and a £60 victim surcharge and he was also cautioned for trying to bring in smoke pellets to Wigan Athletic’s Stadium in 2013 for which he had to serve a curfew between the hours of 9:30pm and 6am for an eight-week period.
