Gitanjali J Angmo is a prominent figure in education, entrepreneurship, and social innovation who was born in Leh, Ladakh. She has spent over two decades shaping various businesses, healthcare initiatives, and educational institutions. Born into a Punjabi Jain business family in Balasore, Odisha, 52-year-old Gitanjali’s grandfather had migrated from Lahore during Partition and a physics graduate, she completed her MBA from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar. She then had a six-year corporate career working in a consulting company and leading the marketing division for a Copenhagen-based Indian multinational.
She then went on a 15-year long entrepreneurial spree, during which she established an engineering firm (Pushan Projects), a publishing house (Chennai-based Helios Books) and acquired a hospital (Puducherry-based AUM Hospitals).
Education
Gitanjali J Angmo earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Fakir Mohan University. She then completed her MBA in Marketing and Finance from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB). She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education, focusing on an Integral Education Framework, at Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence. Gitanjali is notably a Chevening Fellow from the University of Oxford as well.

Profession and career
Gitanjali J Angmo started out her professional journey as an Assistant Manager at SRF Limited (1996–1998), following which she worked on consulting assignments at Deloitte (1998–2000) on marketing, business modeling, and mergers and acquisitions. She has also gone on to serve as Head of European Operations at Lister Technologies (2000–2002) and led Pushan Projects as Director (2001–2009).
While working on these roles, she founded Helios Books in 2009, which focuses on social impact publishing. Gitanjali also notably became the Chairperson of AUM Hospitals (2012–2017), promoting affordable, holistic healthcare. During her role there, she also briefly served as Head of School at KC High, Chennai (2015–2016). Gitanjali then went on to work as director of WinDForce Management Services Pvt. Ltd. (2016–2017), developing wind farms and solar parks.
Later in 2017, she shifted focus entirely to education and founded the Himalayan Institute of Alternatives, Ladakh, alongside her husband, where she continues to serve as CEO and Dean. She also established Transform India in 2020, which is a platform for social impact initiatives.

Gitanjali J Angmo is married to Sonam Wangchuk, and together they have a son named Aryan. Gitanjali shares a love for martial arts with Aryan, and both of them are black belts in Karate.
