Identity of the Hat Snatcher
The hat snatcher who snatched away the hat from a child’s hand given to him by Polish professional tennis player, Kamil Majchrzak, has been identified as Polish businessman Piotr Szczerek.
The bizarre event, which sparked a widespread backlash towards the Polish company Drogbruk, and the brand’s CEO Piotr Szczerek, alongside his wife, took place on Thursday night during the US Open 2025.
While, the CEO of the Polish company has been receiving backlash and criticism, the 29-year-old professional player came forward as he defended the man, while revealing the entrepreneur has been sponsoring his tennis federation.

What Did Kamil Majchrzak Say?
In his statement, while conversing with media, Kamil Majchrzak can be heard saying, “Obviously, it was some kind of confusion,” while adding that Piotr is the sponsor behind his tennis federation in Poland.
Furthermore, he added that after his match, the player “was pointing, giving the hat,” but as he was tired and excited at the same after his victory, and was busy signing one after another autograph, he wasn’t able to really focus, who took the hat.
In addition, he continued, “I’m sure the guy was also acting in the moment of heat, in the moment of emotions.” The CEO of the Polish paving company was caught doing the act during the live broadcast. After receiving so much backlash, Piotr Szczerek deactivated his social media accounts.
Although, he has been receiving criticism online, media reports quoted the professional player and suggested that the businessman had earlier met the young kid and tried to amend his wrongdoing. The media reports, quoted the player as they suggested Piotr “wanted to make things right, so the pro player, “gave him the credentials for Brock’s mom on same social media and he was using them to contact her.
Kamil gave Brock, the kid tennis fan whose cap was snatched by Piotr a replacement signed blue cap and other memorabilia as well. A video of their meeting showed the boy smiling with excitement and Majchrzak posted a message saying, “Hello world, together with Brock we wish you a great day.”

About Piotr Szczerek
Piotr Szczerek is the CEO of Drogbruk, and is an amateur tennis player, who was introduced to the game by his wife identified as Anna. The couple currently lives in Kalisz, Poland. Reportedly, the businessman has a private tennis court in his house and Piotr Szczerek also plays in the second division of the Kalisz Tennis Association.
The couple, who share two sons, and who frequently play competitive doubles tennis together, founded the paving stone company, Drogbruk in 1999.
Their company sponsors local sports programs and supports Polish tennis players.
