Al Jazeera journalist Anas Al-Sharif killed in Israeli airstrike
Anas Al-Sharif was killed in an Israeli missile strike targeting a tent that sheltered him and other press members near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. The airstrike also claimed the lives of four other Al Jazeera journalists. Prior to his death, Al-Sharif had faced repeated threats from Israeli forces, including warnings to leave northern Gaza and messages revealing his location. Israel’s military accused him of being a Hamas operative and the leader of a Hamas cell, allegations Al Jazeera and human rights groups strongly reject as baseless attempts to justify the attack on journalists.
Just moments before his death, Al-Sharif posted a final message warning on X stating:
If these words reach you, Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice… I have never hesitated to convey the truth as it is, without falsification or distortion. Do not forget Gaza, do not forget my sacrifice.”
“Keep being our voice, Anas, keep going.”
