Renowned animal rights organization PETA has responded to popular leftist political streamer Hasan Piker allegedly using a shock collar on his dog Kaya, find out more about the incident below

Hasan Piker dog abuse controversy
Hasan Piker is a popular streamer who is currently embroiled in controversy following a clip from Piker’s October 7 livestream, which surfaced online. According to viewers, Piker used a shock collar on his dog, Kaya, after he became visibly frustrated with her behavior. The brief video shows Kaya behind Piker’s desk and visibly shows her yelping unexpectedly. Some viewers alleged that they saw a green blinking light on her collar and claimed that it was an electronic shock device used by Piker after Kaya moved during the stream. The clip quickly spread across social media, with critics accusing Piker of animal cruelty.

Meanwhile, another clip of Piker’s dog Fish has gone viral as well in the midst of him being accused of using a shock collar on Kaya. The old video which has resurfaced shows Piker manhandling Fish has he picks him up only by his tail whilst directing a barrage of abuses his way. He had also threatened to kill Fish if she moved in the video and was seen lifting her entirely by only her harness after she ignored his commands of sit and stand.
Hasan Piker’s dog Fish had passed away from liver cancer in March 2020. Fish was a Pitbull mix.

Hasan Piker clarifies
Following the allegations, Hasan Piker immediately denied the accusations, explaining that Kaya wears a training collar that vibrates and does not shock. He added how the collar also carries an AirTag for tracking and explained that the whole incident was a misunderstanding. He explained how Kaya accidentally pressed the collar’s button while standing up, which triggered a vibration and startled her. He claimed that viewers misinterpreted the dog’s sudden yelp and pointed out an older clip where Piker previously mentioned owning a shock collar, where he called it “incredibly effective.”

Following the controversies, PETA entered the discussion after the clip went viral. While making their statements, the group said:
“Hasan Piker has denied using a shock collar on his dog, and we hope that’s true because shock collars are dangerous and downright cruel.”
PETA further emphasized that these devices can cause burn wounds, chronic anxiety, and displaced aggression in dogs. The organization further urged Piker, as well as all other pet owners, to use positive reinforcement methods instead, while noting that such approaches are both humane and more effective.
