Tiffany & Co. produces each trophy at its hollowware workshop in Rhode Island, with skilled artisans spending months shaping them to perfection.

The champion receives a full-size replica of the event’s trophy engraved with his/her name on it.

U.S. Open Trophies size and weight

Both the men’s and women’s singles trophies made of sterling silver are of similar size and weight, with both standing at 18.5 inches tall and weighing about 10 pounds. Meanwhile, the doubles champions are slightly smaller, measuring 13 inches in diameter and weighing around 5.5 pounds.

U.S. Open Trophy Design

Tiffany & Co. is the official designer of the US Open trophies and has been designing them for almost four decades. The trophies offer timeless elegance with handcrafted silver cups, classical lines, bold handles, and an engraving of the champion’s name. Since 2023, the engravers have begun working on-site at the tournament. This allows the winners to leave Arthur Ashe Stadium with their personalized trophy in hand, within just hours of their triumph.

U.S. Open Trophies Cost of Production

Producing each of the trophies requires a long and delicate process, with Tiffany’s artisans dedicating about four and a half months to craft a singles cup. The trophies are made using traditional silversmithing techniques, which the brand has preserved for generations. Tiffany generally does not disclose the exact production costs, but the labor, materials, and craftsmanship suggest a value worth tens of thousands of dollars per trophy. However, the trophies themselves are priceless, as they represent decades of dedication and a lifetime dream for the players who win them.

Craftspeople at their Cumberland, Rhode Island workshop employ age-old techniques such as spinning, silversmithing, chasing, hand engraving and polishing to create each trophy over a span of approximately six months, totaling 66 hours of labor.

The US Open Doubles Championship Trophy is a sterling silver revere-style bowl measuring 13 inches in diameter and weighing four pounds and is crafted each year at Tiffany’s hollowware workshop. The trophy is made in over a span of 13 hours
