Mishar beat Gukesh during the fifth round of the FIDE Grand Swiss tournament held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The young prodigy secured the win following a fierce 61-move battle, highlighting his strategic depth and bold play, which included a daring piece sacrifice in the middle game. Following the victory, Mishra is now the youngest ever to defeat a reigning world champion in classical chess. He broke a 33-year-old record held by Grandmaster Gata Kamsky.

Abhimanyu Mishra is a young and upcoming US chess prodigy who was born on February 5, 2009, in New Jersey, USA. He started out his chess journey at a very early age and showed prodigious talent early on. He gained prominence after becoming the youngest International Master at 10 years and 9 months. At about 12 years and 4 months, Mishra earned the title of Grandmaster and became the youngest to do so, breaking a longstanding record. He is now 16 years old and remains a rising star in the chess world with a FIDE classical rating of over 2600.
