Alexander Isak signs for Liverpool
Former Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has officially signed for Liverpool on September 1, 2025, in a 130m ($176m/€152m) deal to make him the most expensive Premier League player ever. The move will now see him earn double of what he earned back at Newcastle. Isak will join the Reds following a standout Premier League campaign where he emerged as the league’s top scorers, only behind Haaland and Palmer. Alexander Isak is a professional footballer who was born in Solna, Sweden, on September 21, 1999. He was raised by Eritrean parents who fled their homeland for a better life, and Isak often credits his family for supporting his career and keeping him grounded. Isak began his football journey at AIK, where he became their youngest-ever goal scorer, and then moved to Borussia Dortmund, Real Sociedad, and then Newcastle. He has quickly developed a reputation as one of Europe’s elite strikers. Despite his success, he is still humble and focused on his career, and maintains strong ties to his family and Eritrean heritage.
While his religion isn’t known, he is speculated to be a Christian as the majority of the population in Eritrea are believed to follow Christianity. He is currently single and unmarried.

Alexander Isak started out his professional football journey with AIK in Sweden, quickly making an impression by scoring on his debut at just 16 years old. Through his goal, he established himself as the youngest scorer in Allsvenskan history. Isak eventually got his big break after singing for Borussia Dortmund in January 2017. He first went out on loan at Willem II where he showcased his scoring ability, scoring goals frequently and becoming the first foreign-born player in Eredivisie history to score 12 goals in his first 12 games.
Alexander Isak transferred to Real Sociedad in Spain in June 2019, and continued his goalscoring abilities, including a famous hat trick against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey. He also won the Copa del Rey with the club in 2021 and seemingly became a consistent threat in front of goal. Isak became known as one of Europe’s top young forwards and in August 2022, he joined Premier League side Newcastle United. Contract and salary
Alexander Isak will reportedly earn an annual salary of £13million, and a weekly salary of £250,000 at Liverpool. This weekly salary will go up to around £300,000 per week, including base salary and performance-related bonuses. The 25-year-old signed a six-year contract, which means that he will be at the club until June 2031.
