Mithun Manhas is all set to take over as the new BCCI President, shocking many insiders who expected former Test cricketers. Despite the speculations around him, Mithun is a resourceful and highly adaptive top cricket executive who was also a former professional cricketer. Mithun has previously captained Delhi during a star-studded era and later worked under the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association.

Mithun Manhas is a former professional cricketer-turned administrator who was born on 12 October 1979 in Jammu in a Hindu family. He moved to Delhi at an early age and found his way into the Sonnet Club, playing under the late coach Tarak Sinha. As a captain, Mithun led Delhi with authority and gained prominent respect for managing big names like Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, and Virat Kohli. Following an impressive cricketing journey, Mithun later took up the role of cricket administrator after retirement.

Mithun Manhas completed his early schooling in Jammu before moving to Delhi to pursue cricket more seriously.
Playing Career
Mithun Manhas has one of the most consistent careers in Indian domestic cricket, playing 157 first-class matches, amassing 9,714 runs with 27 centuries. He was known for his reliability in the middle order and amassed a further 4,126 runs in List A cricket. In the Ranji Trophy, he captained Delhi during some of its most competitive years, while he played 55 matches for Delhi Daredevils, Pune Warriors, and Kings XI Punjab in the IPL. Although he never broke into the Indian national side, he was widely respected as a clever, team-first cricketer.
He has played 130 List A games and 91 T20 matches.
After retiring from his playing career, Mithun briefly returned to Jammu and Kashmir, where he played a final season before joining administration, starting out with the JKCA. He has since overcome a mix of challenges and achievements and is now set for to achieve the ultimate stage in the BCCI.

He began his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils in 2008, where he earned ₹1.2 million per season before joining Pune Warriors India in 2011, where his salary was ₹3 million per season and in 2014 and 2015, he joined the Chennai Super Kings where he got ₹3 million in annual salary. Over the course of his IPL career, he earned a total of ₹1.86 crore.
