Arjun Tendulkar, the son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, recently got engaged to Saaniya Chandok in a private ceremony. The ceremony featured only close friends and family in attendance. Saaniya is notably the granddaughter of Ravi Ghai, who is one of Mumbai’s most successful businessmen in food and hospitality. As a result, the engagement has drawn significant attention for linking the iconic Tendulkar family with the influential Graviss business empire.

Ravi Ghai is the head of the Graviss Group, which operates well-known names like the InterContinental Hotel on Marine Drive and Brooklyn Creamery. Although his exact age is not publicly confirmed, Ravi Ghai is reportedly around 82 years old as of 2025. Ravi took over from his father, Iqbal Krishan Ghai (IK Ghai), back in 1967 and expanded the family legacy to even higher heights. Besides being a reputable businessman, Ravi Ghai is widely regarded as a senior statesman in the industry.

Education

Ravi Ghai is a graduate of Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, which is one of the world’s leading institutions for hospitality studies.

Career

After completing his studies abroad, Ravi Ghai returned to India in 1967, and transformed the Mumbai hospitality scene. He went on to launch major brands like Kwality Ice Cream and helped bring the international franchise Baskin-Robbins to the SAARC region. He also developed the famous Natraj Hotel, which eventually became the InterContinental. Ravi also diversified it into restaurants, banqueting, and luxury dining. At present, Ravi is the Non-Executive Chairman of Graviss Hospitality Ltd and also holds senior positions or directorships across several of its entities, like Kwality Read Estates Pvt Ltd and Perfect Livestock LLP.

He also brought the Baskin-Robbins franchise to the SAARC region and has established himself as a force in the hospitality and food industry.

Wife and Children

Ravi Ghai is married to Gita Ghai, and the pair have four children together named Gaurav, Gaurika, Ravina, and Gayatri. Despite the family’s success, Ravi has an ongoing dispute with his son Gaurav who is Saaniya’s father after publicly accusing Gaurav of forging signatures and taking control of company shares during Ravi’s cancer treatment.

Ravi claimed that a supplementary Family Settlement Agreement was executed fraudulently using his forged signature. “My sign was misused for supplementary family settlement,” Ravi stated in his complaint, adding that he was the 100% owner of Graviss Group before restructuring the business back in 2001.

He alleged that by January 2025, his monthly allowance of Rs 12.5 lakh stopped, and by April, he learned from his CFO that Gaurav had declared himself the chairman of the company,

Net Worth

Graviss Food Solutions Private Limited, the group’s parent company, reported Rs 624 crore in revenue for FY23–24, reflecting 20% growth from the previous year and in addition, the family owns the InterContinental Hotel in Mumbai under the InterContinental Hotels Group umbrella, a global hospitality giant valued at $18.43 billion as of August 2025.

Graviss Hospitality has a market cap or net worth of 3.14 billion as of July 25, 2025 and its market cap has increased by 6.19% in one year.
